Supporting artists to develop a project<\/h2>\n

Capital Connections project aimed to support Greek performing artists (directors, choreographers, puppeteers, liveartists) in the development of their work, through an extensive process of counselling in dramaturgy by Alexandros Mistriotis. In this context, five artists were selected to enter this process, through private meetings with Alexandros Mistriotis, in order to complete a project. The proposal was for small, medium or large-scale works, and there were no restrictions as to its genre or form: theatrical, contemporary dance, site specific works, circus, and so on.<\/span><\/p>\n

The process took up a year. The aim of the programme was not to select the “best” – in fact, exotic notions and attitudes that categorise artistic creation in terms of quality or non-quality outcomes were rejected – but rather those who could benefit substantially from the programme.<\/p>\n

The development of personal artistic language<\/h2>\n

The main aim of the programme was to develop the participants’ personal artistic language through a methodical dialogue. The effort was two-way and required strong motivation to complete a personal artistic project. The first phase was a series of meetings that broadened the intention of the projects and the presentation of possible tools and working methods. Then the meetings were increasingly adapted to the course of the project. The close collaborations alternated with periods of personal work and re-meetings and feedback. Qualities such as boldness, willingness to engage in dialogue, personal research and adventure and ultimately to shift gears proved more than welcome.<\/p>\n

\nWhere was priority given?<\/h2>\n

Priority was given to artists who are now in the process of shaping their personal language, i.e. either emerging artists, or artists with a path who are in transition along the way and are trying to redefine their vocabulary and artistic identity.
