Beforelight’s ephemeral light installation, entitled “Photosynaxis”, comes to aesthetically “stir up” the empty plot on Dardanelion Street and reposition it on the map of Eleusis as a flexible gathering place, shaped according to the needs of its users.
The installation aims to create an experiential space, functional both by day and by night, that invites visitors to explore it and interact with the installation: a hub within the festival that every festival visitor or neighbourhood resident can use and adapt, whether for a short stop, for taking part in the discussions, or simply for everyday conversation, rest and fun.
Adjustable architectural and lighting elements converse with the demolished façades of old houses, arranged so as to create different poles for meeting, entertainment and information. Information point, café, assembly: the space transforms, bringing life to the empty alleys between the buildings on the street. The composition and coexistence of disparate materials and light sources make it possible to redefine the empty plot, as new points of it are revealed through a play of light and shadow.
