The Destinations are ONDA initiatives that aim to introduce French artistic directors and curators of festivals, theatres and multi-arts venues to the contemporary artistic reality of other countries around the world, in order to strengthen the presence of foreign artists in the programmes of French organisations. Every year ONDA curates and organises a series of such Destinations, each time in a different country. This is its first time in Greece, and it is a special opportunity for networking between the Greek and the European art scenes. Twelve programmers take part in Destination Eleusis–Athens, accompanied by the programme coordinators Geoliane Arab and Régis Plaud. Within the framework of the Synikismos Festival 2019, the international programmers get to know the local performing arts scene and its conditions of production. They discover new dynamics and initiatives, meet the artists of the Synikismos Festival, and tour the city of Eleusis and the wider region of Attica (Athens) guided by the artists themselves. The Destinations programme includes networking activities, one-to-one meetings between Greek artists and participants, visits to art venues in Athens and Eleusis, and discussions. Through this rich programme, the aim is to understand both how the contemporary local art scene works and its aesthetic diversity, leading to the (re)creation of ties with Greek professionals, especially those of the independent scene.
As part of the Synikismos Festival 2019 of Eleusis 2021 European Capital of Culture, ONDA, the French office for the diffusion of contemporary performing arts, curated “Destination Eleusis–Athens”, for the first time in Greece.

After Portugal, Corsica and Sardinia, ONDA’s Mediterranean route for 2018–2019 ended in Greece and in Eleusis, a port city that brings to the fore issues more topical than ever for the future not only of Greece but of Europe.
